Challenge

People turning to shared activities instead of swipe-dating still coordinate through scattered chats and generic maps, with no way to find events that match their interests or see who's already going. Grona's brief was to bring a personalized activity system, in-app chat, and a nearby-and-remote locations map into one simple booking flow, backed by a distinct brand identity.

Wireframes

Every screen in the app went through this structural stage first — chat, discovery, activity details, and dozens more — before any visual design began. The examples shown here capture the core loop: a chat list and group thread with voice messages, a Discover feed filtered by category, and a map view with an activity card ready to join. Locking in this structure first meant the final UI could focus purely on look and feel, not layout decisions.

/

Activities

Every activity a user has joined or created lives on one dashboard — organized into Joined and Created tabs, and tagged by status as scheduled, ongoing, completed, or canceled — so there's no need to dig back through old chats or notifications to figure out what happened to a plan. A completed activity closes the loop with a light prompt to share photos with the group, turning a one-off meetup into something worth looking back on, while an empty state for first-time users points straight into Discover instead of a dead end.

/

Chat

Chat follows the same pattern people already use every day — group threads, 1:1 conversations, voice notes, and camera or gallery attachments — so messaging an organizer or coordinating logistics with a hiking group feels instantly familiar, not like learning a new app. Because each thread is grouped around the people actually going to that activity, planning stays in one place instead of scattering across social-media DMs, and a conversation can be blocked if it needs to be.

Home Page & Locations

Users stay on top of new activities nearby and confirmations for their own sign-ups, with a friendly empty state so an inbox with nothing in it still feels intentional rather than broken.

/

Notifications

A single feed keeps users on top of everything changing around their activities — a new member joining a group, an activity closing or wrapping up, or a fresh event added nearby — so nobody has to reopen every chat or activity page just to check what's new. A friendly empty state keeps the inbox from feeling broken before there's anything to show.

Design System

A single type family, Urbanist, paired with a compact four-color palette keeps every screen visually consistent while still giving status, alerts, and accents room to stand out.
